How to Disable Account Links in Telegram Forwarded Messages

When someone forwards your message on Telegram, it typically includes a link to your account. If you prefer to keep your account link private, Telegram allows you to disable it.

This guide explains how to do it on Android, iPhone, Desktop, and Web.

Disable Account Links in Forwarded Messages (Android)

1. Open the Telegram app and tap the three horizontal lines in the top-left corner.
2. Select Settings.
3. Tap Privacy and Security (between Notifications and Data and Storage).
4. Under the Privacy section, tap Forwarded Messages.
5. In the "Who can add a link to my account when forwarding my messages" section, select one of the following:
• Everybody: Allows anyone to include your account link in forwarded messages.
• My Contacts: Only your contacts can include your account link.
• Nobody: Prevents anyone from including your account link.
6. Tap the Tick icon at the top-right to save.

Add Exceptions (Optional):

• Never Allow: Tap Add Users next to this option, select specific people or groups, and they will never include your account link in forwarded messages.
• Always Allow (only available if you selected My Contacts or Nobody): Tap Add Users, select specific people or groups, and they will always include your account link in forwarded messages.

Disable Account Links in Forwarded Messages (iPhone)

1. Open the Telegram app and tap Settings at the bottom.
2. Tap Privacy and Security (between Notifications and Data and Storage).
3. Under the Privacy section, tap Forwarded Messages.
4. In the "Who can add a link to my account when forwarding my messages" section, choose:
• Everybody: Allows anyone to include your account link.
• My Contacts: Only your contacts can include your account link.

5. Tap Back to save.

2. Open the Telegram Desktop app and click the three horizontal lines in the left sidebar.
3. Select Settings > Privacy and Security.
4. Tap Forwarded Messages.
5. Choose one of the following:
• Everybody: Allows anyone to include your account link.
• My Contacts: Only your contacts can include your account link.
• Nobody: Prevents anyone from including your account link.
6. Click Save.

4. Choose Everybody, My Contacts, or Nobody.
5. To save, click the Back arrow in the top-left corner.

Add Exceptions (Optional):

• Never Allow: Click Add Users, select specific people or groups, and they will never include your account link. Tap the Arrow icon at the bottom.
• Always Allow: Click Add Users, select specific people or groups, and they will always include your account link. Tap the Arrow icon at the bottom.

Key Notes

• Exceptions override the general setting (e.g., someone in the Always Allow list can still include your account link even if the overall setting is Nobody).
• You can update these settings anytime across all platforms.
